Osgood Schlatters Disease

 It's not as bad as it sounds and is ususally called growing pains.

altPain and swelling is felt below the knee cap after exersize and can be quite painful but will usually recover quickly after rest. 

This problem occurs in teenages who are involed in sports when they are under going growth spurts because the bones grow quicker that the muscles, ligaments and tendons that are attached to them.


Deep oscillation can cure this problem with one session on each knee. Self management can also help reduce the damage being caused, Follow these steps. 1. Stretch - the only stretch that works is to bend the leg back untill the heal touches the bum and hold for a few minutes. 2. Rest - when the knee becomes painful stop this seems obvious but manages will tell you to run it off but this will make it worse and prolong the problem. 3. Ice - when you stop apply ice to reduce the swelling, pain and speed up recovery. Anti-inflamitory drugs such as Ibuprofen will also help with pain management and reducing inflamation. 

If you do not look after this problem there could be a perminent swelling below the knee and reduced flexibility
